10 year old loves it

The 10 year old we bought this for loves it. He is thrilled to have one to take on his hiking or camping trips and I think it is a reasonable camera for that use. I’m sure a pro would not use this type of camera but it will meet the needs for a novice.

GOOD FOR THE MONEY

Wanted a spare for the car and EDC. Have an old fuji XP waterproof that still preforms well. I thought I would retire it from EDC duty and save it for vacations and such. This Minolta seemed a good inexpensive option. It looks to be well designed and has all the features I want. It takes good pictures with no delay when the shutter is pressed and seems to take clear, well exposed pictures. I shut off the face, smile and steady shot features as I found they tend to interfere with composition and lighting issues. The burst feature is one I use a lot and was surprised to find this feature on such a low end camera. I don't think it would survive a drop or impact very well as it is not as solid as my Xp camera. Overall I would recommend it for EDC use but not for an only camera to take on vacation. Not that I think it would not take good pictures but any accidents would probably end in disaster for this camera and a loss of photo ops. My XP has been through camera hell even 1/2 the finish has left the building and it still works fine. This Minolta is great camera for a child to take underwater photos or snorkeling shoots.

MICRO SD CARD

It's a great little camera and will serve my son well while he's out of the country. Gave it 4 stars because nowhere on this site does it indicate that it uses a micro SD card rather than a regular size SD card. It does come with a 16gB micro SD card but it doesn't indicate anywhere on here that it is micro SD. We ordered the regular SD cards which were offered as an add on with the purchase by Amazon, but are returning them because they are way too big and have ordered micro SD ones instead.
